The Chef's Table
If you ever find yourself wandering down 1a Avon Crescent in Bristol and you’re craving something beyond ordinary dining, The Chef's Table is where you should land. Tucked away in a quiet corner, this elegant yet understated spot delivers an elevated culinary experience that feels like an exclusive invitation to a private show-one where the chefs are the stars, and the ingredients take centre stage.
From the very first moment you walk in, it becomes clear that The Chef's Table isn’t your everyday restaurant. With no delivery or takeaway distractions, the team here focuses solely on serving an unforgettable dine-in experience. The atmosphere is refined yet relaxed, with an intimate vibe that suits both a leisurely lunch and a special dinner. And while there’s no wheelchair-accessible car park, there is accessible seating for those who need it-something to appreciate if you're planning a visit.
Let’s talk food-because that’s why you’re really here, right? The popular dishes alone sound like a curated tasting menu at a Michelin-starred spot. Scallops are pan-glazed to a perfect caramel edge, often paired with razor clams for a coastal flair that’s hard to beat. If you’re into bold starters, the venison tartare comes highly recommended, and the foie gras is seared just right with a melt-in-your-mouth richness that pairs beautifully with one of their many wines.
Speaking of wine, the sommelier here deserves a shoutout. The wine list is extensive without being overwhelming, and there’s a bottle for every mood-whether you’re in the mood for a light Chardonnay or something with more depth to complement the pork tenderloin or filet mignon. If you’re leaning more toward seafood, dishes like sea bass and turbot are plated with artistic precision, often adorned with delicate herb oils or seasonal vegetables.
Don’t skip dessert. It’s a crime here. The soufflé rises to the occasion-airy, warm, and deeply chocolatey. For something cold and vibrant, the sorbet options rotate but often lean into bold seasonal flavours. Then there’s the sticky toffee pudding, which manages to be both comforting and elegant at the same time. If you’re feeling a little adventurous, the apple and pea samosa with coconut ice cream and rum & raisin syrup is unexpectedly addictive.
One detail that adds charm to The Chef’s Table is its “at-home” feel, despite being rooted in fine dining. That might be why dishes like chocolate cremeaux at home feel both luxurious and approachable. Their cheese and biscuits selection is also worth a mention-ideal for ending your meal with a savoury note, especially when paired with a well-chosen sherry or dessert wine.
On the drinks side, it’s not just wine doing the heavy lifting. The restaurant serves a thoughtful selection of craft beers, cocktails, and spirits, alongside freshly brewed coffee that earns its own praise from guests. This makes The Chef’s Table not only a place for food enthusiasts but also a haven for drink connoisseurs looking for balance in every sip.
The venue is well-known among locals as a lunch and dinner destination, and it’s particularly loved for its coffee and dessert service-something that helps it stand out even in a city like Bristol where great eateries are never far. The crowd here tends to be those who know good food when they see it and prefer quality over flash.
With its curated dishes, expertly paired beverages, and an environment that whispers rather than shouts, The Chef’s Table makes every visit feel personal, like being welcomed into a culinary secret.

We had a great experience for a birthday dinner, we all chose the signature menu and the food was amazing, the portion size was very generous with the added bonus of some delicious canapés and focaccia! The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly! We will definitely be back soon.
My girlfriend and I enjoyed a heavenly evening for her birthday at The Chef’s Table in Bristol. We started with aperitifs and hors d'oeuvres in the sun—an unforgettable prelude to what followed: five exceptional courses of fine dining at its very best. Each dish was beautifully paired with superb wines, thoughtfully introduced by the knowledgeable and attentive staff. A flawless experience from start to finish. Highly recommended!
My partner and I finally went for a meal at this wonderful restaurant after moving to the neighbourhood last year. We were blown away by the fantastic service and truly sensational food. The presentation of each course was beautiful and it really felt like the menu took us on a journey as every dish was so unique. The wine pairings were incredibly well thought out too and complimented the food perfectly. The friendly front of house team went above and beyond and were extremely knowledgeable on both the food and wine. Thanks for a very special evening, we will definitely be returning!
Had a lovely meal last night. I was hoping for a special and yummy meal and it was perfect. My only regret is not being able to finish the chateaubriand, it was delicious especially all of the sides. Some of the dishes were real works of art. Highly recommend!
Me and my husband came here a couple of months ago for a meal for my birthday. We had the 7 course menu and it was delicious! This is our second time here and it's such a treat. Really lovely fancy food, but in a relaxed setting. We had a window seat and it was lovely looking out onto Bristol. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a tasting menu in Bristol! Thanks Conrad and the team!
